Western Digital is betting big on hard drives again, and this time the ambition goes far beyond modest upgrades. The company has introduced two fresh technologies for 3.5-inch HDDs that aim to change how you think about speed and scale. The first is Dual Pivot. Instead of one actuator moving the read and write heads, WD adds a second independently controlled one. This simple sounding change brings serious gains.
