TSMC, a semiconductor supplier known for its cooperation with Apple, accuses its hardware supplier of a critical vulnerability
Last Thursday TSMC discovered a severe breach in their systems. The breach was caused by a vulnerability in the hardware of TSMC’s hardware supplier Kinmax Technology, whose services are also used by such giants as Microsoft, Cisco, and HPE. What happened is that some critical information about TSMC's server setup and configuration leaked which opened the door to a ransom demand attempt of $70 million performed by LockBit ransomware. After the incident, TSMC disconnected its infrastructure from Kinmax Technology.
