Half-terabyte DDR5 module from Micron

Micron Technology recently announced new 512 GB RDIMM modules that could run at speeds up to and including DDR5-9200. According to newly revealed information, these modules are undergoing AMD and Intel validation, with mass production planned for next year.
Key insights into the new release
Micron has announced manufacturing of the new module oriented toward the server segment almost a year before it will actually be available on sale. A dual-processor with 24 memory slots can support up to 12 TB of DDR5 RAM due to the use of RDIMM modules. Such high chip density was achieved because of the utilization of vertical integration technology.
AMD is only conducting some validations of the modules for its server platforms. Whereas Intel has publicly announced plans to use such memory modules in the next-generation server platforms. According to the revealed information, an increased amount of data storage in RAM can minimize power consumption by almost 60 % compared with 128-GB modules with the identical total memory capacity.
512 GB RDIMM modules can deliver way higher performance characteristics when compared with 256 GB memory modules in data analysis tasks. Higher data processing efficiency is shown in Spark SVM, RocksDB, and Redis.
