According to recently revealed information, the Chinese company Hygon has developed new C86-5G x86 processors. These processors are primarily designed for use in data center equipment. Also, there are AI accelerators that are currently expected to be in development.
New generation of processors
New Hygon C86-5G will replace the current C86-4G, which has 16 computer cores with the possibility of simultaneous processing of up to 32 instruction threads. They support the PCIe 5.0 interface and DDR5 RAM.
New processors will have up to 128 computing cores. C86-5G will have SMT4 multithreading technology, which means every core can process 4 instruction threads, which will result in a total of 512 threads. Expected performance is 10 TFLOPS for FP64 operations. These new Chinese processors can become a great alternative to Intel Xeon 6.
The production of the new generation of processors has already begun. They will become the foundation for the range of servers, including the dual-socket H620G59 model. Such a system is equipped with three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, 32 slots for DDR5-6400 modules, eight front-panel bays for SFF-standard drives, and other options. Also, there are liquid-cooled server racks such as TC8600H G5 and TC800G6, which are now in the development process.
