Intel Core Ultra - new processors with a dedicated NPU unit for processing artificial intelligence tasks

At the AI Everywhere event Intel presented some information about Core Ultra mobile processors, of the Meteor Lake branch, featuring better energy efficiency and performance due to sharing tasks across different chipsets.

The Core Ultra 7 processor reportedly offers an 11% increase in performance compared to competitors, 25% better energy efficiency compared to Inter Core i71370 and 79% better energy efficiency than AMD Ryzen 7 7840U.

The new processors feature NPU (Neural Processing Unit) offering AI-tasks acceleration and low energy consumption.

Intel Core Ultra 9 185H is announced to be the first model of the new series, featuring 16 cores and 22 instruction threads, 5.1 GHz frequency, and an Arc graphic processor with 8 Xe cores and 2.35 GHz frequency. The processor’s release is announced for 2024. The rest of the new processors are already available to the device manufacturers.
