Intel Unveils Crescent Island Graphics Processor

At the Hot Chips 2026 conference, Intel revealed insights into its new graphics processor, Crescent Island. The new design is mainly oriented toward tasks connected with AI, with the primary focus on energy efficiency, memory capacity, and support for large LLMs.
Details regarding Crescent Island
As for the revealed information, Crescent Island is a GPU in the form of an air-cooled PCIe card with a power rating of 350 W. The GPU has a PCIe Gen5 x16 interface, unified L2 cache, and 32 Xe3P cores. The graphics card will have 160 GB of LPDDR5X memory.
Intel is using Xe3P, and in the company’s roadmap this architecture is used for data centers, PCs, workstations, and peripherals. This architecture expands the AI capabilities of each Xe core. Whereas next-generation PCs are mentioned alongside Crescent Island.
Crescent Island is mainly designed for computing purposes. The increased memory capacity is needed for more sustained AI workloads. That means this is not a gaming-oriented GPU, but rather a first look at Xe3P technology.
