Latvia’s Greenest Data Center with Tier III Certification and a NATO Base Nearby

On the 9th of September, Latvian tech company Tet opened the DC7 data center in Salaspils. As of the company’s announcement, this project is considered to be the greenest and the most secure data center in Latvia.

Key Insights on the New Project 

The new data center is certified to the Tier III Design and Facility standards by the Uptime Institute. According to the recently revealed information, there will be 112 racks with the use of an N+1 redundancy model and three levels of physical security.

The drone detection system is utilized in the data center for the risks of sabotage and espionage. The fact that this facility is located near the NATO base makes the physical security of the project even more important.

This data center is specifically designed to meet certain AI requirements. In addition to this, it is tightly integrated with European infrastructure by connecting the biggest network hubs and exchange points all around Europe. In this way, clients will have the possibility to store information in any other EU country if that is needed.

DC7 has an exceptional level of energy efficiency. The heat generated by the data center will be utilized to heat residents' homes.

This is a strategic project for the entire country, mainly because of its impact on AI adoption and the security level that it offers.     

Total construction investment has exceeded 30 million euros. After the completion of the first phase of the project, Tet became the only data center in the country with 2 Tier III certified datacenters which are DC7 and Dattum.
