The Microsoft AI department announced the formation of a new team to develop "humanistic superintelligence." The company promises that this AI model will serve humanity without striving for leadership over it.
Microsoft emphasized that this AI will not be "unlimited" in its operation, but will be "carefully calibrated, contextualized, and constrained."
Use Cases for the New Model
The new AI could theoretically be used as a:
- A companion that helps people with learning, productivity, and provides emotional support.
- Medical Advisor who assists with diagnoses and other tasks.
- An idea and Innovation Generator that helps develop necessary fields, such as transitioning to clean energy, and so on.
Intensifying Competition
The company states that it "disagrees with participating in the AI race," but despite this, competition in the market is still intensifying.
A new agreement allowed Microsoft to develop AI independently or with the inclusion of third-party organizations. The company concluded an agreement with the cloud startup Lambda, under which a large-scale infrastructure for training and deploying AI models will be created.
