Mysterious MediaTek Teaser and What to Expect at Computex 2026
14:00, 26.05.2026
MediaTek has sparked speculation across the industry by releasing an official teaser for a new product set to be unveiled at Computex 2026. The company has not revealed the exact device but has hinted at portable computers, promising to showcase “radically new laptop capabilities.”
MediaTek’s Position in the Laptop Market
Right now, MediaTek’s presence in the laptop segment is largely limited to its Kompanio processor lineup, which powers relatively basic devices such as the Lenovo Chromebook Plus Gen 10 and Acer Chromebook Plus 714.
Industry insiders have increasingly discussed MediaTek’s collaboration with NVIDIA, which is expected to result in powerful PC-oriented SoCs codenamed N1 and N1X. According to preliminary reports, the first devices based on these platforms will be laptops from Dell and Lenovo.
RTX 4060 Ti-Level Graphics and the Lenovo Leak
Recently, references to a device powered by the N1X chip were discovered on an internal Lenovo resource. According to the leaked information, the platform features an integrated GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores, delivering performance comparable to a dedicated RTX 4060 Ti graphics card.
Following the cancellation of MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai’s Computex appearance, official details about the N1 project are now expected during NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote on June 1.
The Project Needs to Launch at Computex 2026
Analysts generally agree that the project is likely to debut at Computex 2026. The launch has reportedly already been delayed due to software compatibility issues.
If MediaTek and NVIDIA do not unveil the platform this time, the project could face the risk of cancellation altogether. Further delays may also hurt its competitiveness, as the market will soon be crowded with next-generation rivals such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Apple’s M5 Pro.
