Samsung has recently announced the start of mass production of the PM1763 PCIe 6.0 SSD, which is primarily designed for next-generation servers.
Hidden Potential of PM1763
PM1763 is a PCIe 6.0-based solid-state drive that was designed mainly for the segment of next-generation servers, such as NVIDIA Vera Rubin. The demand for faster and more reliable data transfer is really high in the AI market, so Samsung decided to design enterprise eSSDs.
Due to the optimized controller architecture and high-speed data transfer, the new solution can become a critical option for high-performance AI platforms. The usage of a 4-nm controller and 9th-generation V-NAND tremendously impacts the energy efficiency level and performance characteristics.
PM1763 will be available in the following capacities: 4 TB, 8 TB, and 16 TB. As now disclosed, the 16 TB model will have the best performance with the sequential read speed of 28.4 GB/s and write speed of 21.9 GB/s.
That means a Large Language model of 40 GB can be easily transferred in 1.4 seconds with minimal data latency. The PM1763 is optimized for the liquid-cooled servers due to D2C technology. In this way, stable peak performance can be achieved even under heavy workloads.
