SSD drive price will increase by 50% in 2024 - TrendForce

TrendForce predicts that NAND flash memory will increase in price in 2024, leading to higher prices for SSD drives. This prediction is very realistic, considering that NAND unexpectedly increased in price in the second half of 2023, and the price continues to go upward.
TrendForce analysts estimate that drive manufacturers will raise the price by 50% in 2024. Because a 40% price increase will take market leaders such as Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix out of financial loss, a 50% increase will allow them to go into profit.
The cost of TLC chips used for creating SSDs has increased noticeably. Thus, the cost of 512 GB modules has risen by 120%, compared to July prices. As for the prices for 128GB and 256GB drives, they have increased by 22% and 60% respectively.
It is assumed that the price increase is due to a quantitative reduction in production. For example, Samsung has reduced production by 50% starting September 2023.
