There will be no new gaming graphics cards from NVIDIA in 2026: why is this good news for users?

The GeForce RTX 50 Super was originally planned for release, but this series was first delayed and later canceled altogether. So now, in 2026, we shouldn’t expect any new gaming graphics cards from NVIDIA. The RTX 50 lineup will be the only offering until the new product arrives.
Memory shortage and its consequences
The main issues stem from a shortage of GDDR7 memory, which is significantly impacted by the reallocation of production capacity to HBM for AI. NVIDIA had planned to launch a new series with the idea of increasing video memory to 18 GB for the RTX 5070 Super and to 24 GB for the RTX 5070 Ti Super/RTX 5080 Super.
This option looked quite attractive, but due to the shortage, releasing such graphics cards has become quite problematic.
Considering the overall situation, there are almost no models with large amounts of video memory, resulting in minimal competition for NVIDIA. Moreover, current graphics cards generally meet the needs of most users. Therefore, gamers don’t really need any urgent upgrades.
So, a nearly year-long pause in the release of new graphics cards seems like the best solution. During this period, the memory market situation may stabilize somewhat, and users will have the opportunity to save money and avoid spending on new graphics cards with expensive GDDR7 memory for now.
