IPMI provides remote management access to your Dedicated Server independently of the installed operating system. You can use it to access the server remotely, including when the operating system is unavailable or the server cannot be reached through the network.

For security reasons, access to IPMI is provided through a VPN connection. The HostZealot Client Area provides the IPMI credentials and an OpenVPN configuration file required to establish this connection.

Get your IPMI access details

1. Go to My Services and select Dedicated Servers.
2. Select the Dedicated Server you want to access and click its name.
   
   
3. On the server page, click IPMI management in the menu on the right.
   
   
4. The IPMI management window will display the IP address, username, and password required to access IPMI.
5. Click Download openVPN configuration file to download the VPN configuration.
   
   

Note:
Keep your IPMI username and password secure. You will need these credentials after establishing the VPN connection.

Connect to the IPMI network

1. Install an OpenVPN-compatible client on your computer if you do not already have one.
2. Import the OpenVPN configuration file downloaded from the HostZealot Client Area.
3. Start the VPN connection.
4. If you are prompted for authentication, enter the credentials required for the HostZealot VPN connection.
5. Wait until the VPN connection has been established.

Access IPMI

1. While connected to the VPN, open a web browser.
2. Enter the IP address displayed in the IPMI management window into the browser address bar.
3. Enter the IPMI Username and Password displayed in the HostZealot Client Area.
4. Log in to open the IPMI management interface for your server.

When you have finished working with IPMI, you can disconnect from the VPN.
