Everything you need to know about HostZealot

How to reboot your server?

You can reboot your VPS or Dedicated Server directly from the HostZealot Client Area. This can be useful if the server stops responding or becomes inaccessible through SSH or RDP.

Attention:
Rebooting interrupts all services running on the server. If the server is still responding normally, restart it from the operating system whenever possible.

Reboot your server from the Client Area

  1. Go to My Services and select Virtual Servers or Dedicated Servers.
  2. Select the server and click its name.
  3. Find the server status and power controls at the top of the server page.
  4. Click Reboot.
  5. Wait for the server to restart and become available again.

If the server is still inaccessible

If rebooting does not restore access, first check the server status in the Client Area. If the service has been suspended because of an overdue invoice, the billing issue must be resolved before the server can become available again.

If the service is active but SSH, RDP, or other network services remain unavailable, use console access to check the operating system directly.

Check a VPS using VNC

If the VPS is running but you cannot connect through SSH or RDP, click VNC in the server settings to open the server console.

VNC connects directly to the virtual server console and does not depend on SSH, RDP, or the network configuration inside the operating system.

After opening VNC, check what is displayed on the screen:

  • If you see the normal login screen or command-line login prompt, the operating system is running. The problem may be related to SSH, RDP, firewall, or network configuration.
  • If the server is still booting, wait for the startup process to complete and check whether any errors appear.
  • If the operating system is frozen or displays an error, reboot the VPS and watch the startup process through VNC.
  • If the VPS does not boot successfully or repeatedly displays errors, contact HostZealot Support and provide the error message or a screenshot of the VNC console.

Check a Dedicated Server using IPMI

If your Dedicated Server is running but you cannot connect through SSH or RDP, use IPMI management to access the server independently of its operating system and normal network connection.

Connect to IPMI and open the remote console. Check what is displayed on the server screen:

  • If you see the normal login screen or command-line login prompt, the operating system is running. The problem may be related to SSH, RDP, firewall, or network configuration.
  • If the server is still booting, wait for the startup process to complete and check whether any errors appear.
  • If the operating system is frozen or displays an error, reboot the server and watch the startup process through the IPMI remote console.
  • If the server does not boot successfully or repeatedly displays errors, contact HostZealot Support and provide the error message or a screenshot of the IPMI remote console.

Attention:
Avoid using Hard Reset unless the server does not respond to a normal reboot. A hard reset immediately restarts the server without allowing the operating system to shut down normally.

If the problem continues

If the server remains unavailable, contact HostZealot Support. Provide the server name or IP address and describe what happened before the problem appeared.

If the server is reachable over the network but the connection is unstable or unusually slow, you can also provide ping and MTR results to help diagnose the network connection.
