On July 14, AMD introduced its new Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 processor lineup. The series will be available starting July 23 through global OEM partners, including Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Supermicro, as well as via distribution channels for DIY builders.
Flagship With 96 Cores and Up to 5.4 GHz Frequency
The flagship processor, Threadripper PRO 9995WX, features 96 Zen 5 cores and up to 192 threads thanks to SMT. It supports frequencies up to 5.4 GHz, PCIe 5.0 with 128 lanes, 8-channel DDR5-6400 memory, and enhanced AVX-512 instructions.
AMD is shifting focus from HEDT enthusiasts to professional workstation users. The new processors are designed for rendering, AI, generative design, complex simulations, and code compilation tasks.
Performance Boost and New Technologies
Compared to its predecessor, the Threadripper PRO 7000, IPC improvements reach up to 16%, and up to 25% in AI tasks (e.g., SPECworkstation 4.0 AI). The new 9995WX outperformed the 7995WX by up to 26% in several benchmarks.
The CPUs also support the full suite of AMD Pro technologies, including enterprise-grade security and remote management tools.
