AMD Opens the FSR 4.1 Door for Radeon RX 7000 and RX 6000 Owners

After months of waiting, AMD has finally given Radeon gamers a reason to smile. FSR 4.1, introduced in March, will not stay exclusive to the newest graphics cards for much longer. The company is preparing to roll it out to RDNA 3 GPUs first, while RDNA 2 owners will get their turn a bit later.
The owners of Radeon RX 7000 cards should see official FSR 4.1 support in July. If you use a Radeon RX 6000 GPU, you will need to wait a little longer, but AMD has not forgotten you.
Why This Matters for Radeon Players
AMD vice president Jack Huynh said that he is a gamer himself, and that his team has been working to expand FSR 4.1 to more graphics cards. This may explain why AMD stayed quiet while users kept asking about support for older Radeon generations.
Some RDNA 3 owners already found ways to unlock FSR 4.1 through tools such as OptiScaler. Still, official support matters. You get a cleaner setup, fewer compatibility worries, and a feature that feels properly built into the Radeon ecosystem.
AMD’s Next Move
We think this decision could restore some confidence among Radeon users. If AMD keeps improving older GPUs through software, you get more value from hardware you already own. That matters, especially when upgrading a graphics card is still expensive for many players.
The tease of something “exciting” for RDNA 2 in early 2027 also gives RX 6000 owners a reason to keep watching AMD closely.
