China Creates Record-Breaking Magnets for Fusion Reactor

Chinese engineers have successfully completed the development and testing of two of the world's largest superconducting magnets. This achievement leads us closer to mastering controlled nuclear fusion, a technology that could permanently solve the global energy crisis.
Specifications of the Record-Breaking Magnet
The key element of the system is a toroidal magnet measuring 21 meters in length, weighing 582 metric tons, and operating with a current of nearly 100,000 amperes.
What the Fusion Reactor Will Do
The project's main goal is to recreate the physical processes occurring deep inside stars. To trigger the fusion reaction, hydrogen is heated to an extreme 100–150 million degrees Celsius, transforming it into plasma.
No known material can withstand direct contact with such intensely hot matter, which is precisely why these magnets are required. Using an ultra-powerful magnetic field, the plasma is contained in space, literally "levitating" inside the reactor.
Project Timeline
Project development is proceeding strictly on schedule. The assembly of the experimental reactor is planned for completion by 2027, with the first official demonstration of energy generation using nuclear fusion expected by 2030.
