Recently, Kioxia Corporation has announced the release of additional direct liquid cooling for KIOXIA CM9 SSDs. This method will be used as additional support for already used cold-plate cooling. New models also have support for the standard air-cooled methods. For now, the samples of the new series will be presented at the 2026 OCP Global Summit.
The usage of the direct liquid cooling method is growing in popularity due to the increase in intensive workload environments and AI. The growing compute demand definitely requires new approaches and more innovative solutions for heat dissipation. Direct liquid cooling guarantees significant energy savings and, at the same time, more equipment can be cooled compared with more traditional approaches.
