MSI, Asus, and Gigabyte are planning to raise the prices of motherboards in the third quarter of 2026. The price will be increased to almost 50%, mainly because of the price rise for printed circuit boards and other important components.
Insights into the Price Increase
Due to significant price increases on such components as SMD capacitors, circuit boards, controller chips, and others, Taiwanese manufacturers decided to raise their prices. The official price announcement is expected at the end of September this year.
Also, the consumer demand for DIY PC builds is gradually diminishing, and that also affects the shipment volumes. There are forecasts about the possibility of a double-digit drop in shipment volumes of Gigabyte and MSI.
That means the largest manufacturers are facing a minimization of production volumes together with an increase in the general development costs. In addition to this, consumers are also less willing to build their own PCs.
Another possible impact can be connected with processor manufacturers and their price rise, with almost no budget-friendly options. Such circumstances create an unfavorable environment for regular customers and the purchase of the new hardware.
