Insights about AMD Helion: Agentic AI compute
14:46, 13.10.2026
On October 12, AMD introduced the AMD Helion agentic AI rack. The new project aims to provide more flexibility for agentic AI infrastructure. With AMD Helion, clients can now match core density and CPU performance with GPU acceleration for the tasks AI agents perform.
Details regarding the new AMD project
Agentic AI includes enterprise apps, personal agents, complex workflows, and even code execution. For the completion of such tasks, the infrastructure and compute should be properly optimized. That’s why AMD Helion can be used to build the system around the users’ needs with a more efficient use of the available power.
AMD Helion’s OCP rack can have the most flexible configuration and has support for open software. That means users can create absolutely any configuration they require.
For instance, it is possible to create a CPU-only rack based on 6th Gen AMD EPYC. Such a rack can provide dedicated capacity for agent execution as well as offer a connection to a separate model.
With AMD Helion, it is possible to deploy agentic AI in the already available IT infrastructure. Partners can specifically tailor GPU and CPU configurations to the user workloads with the specific cost and power requirements.
For further development, AMD plans to contribute the AMD Helion specification to OCP. Now, the AMD Helion agent rack config is being developed, with plans to launch the project in November of the current year.
