Intel Arc G3 Chips Turn Handheld PCs Into a New Battleground
11:51, 29.05.2026
Intel is no longer treating handheld gaming PCs as a side quest. Ahead of Computex 2026, the company introduced Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme, a new mobile chip lineup built for Windows 11 gaming handhelds. These processors are designed to challenge AMD’s Ryzen Z series, which has powered many popular portable gaming devices.
Both chips use Intel’s Panther Lake platform, also known as the Core Ultra 300 series, and rely on the Intel 18A process. You get a 14 core CPU layout with two performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and four low power efficiency cores. Arc G3 reaches up to 4.6 GHz, while Arc G3 Extreme goes slightly higher at 4.7 GHz.
More Graphics Power in Your Hands
The real fight happens on the graphics side. Intel uses its Xe3 architecture, with Arc G3 expected to carry a 10 core iGPU and Arc G3 Extreme likely stepping up to 12 Xe3 cores. Support for XeSS 3 and Multi Frame Generation could help games look smoother without draining every bit of battery life.
Intel also adds Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thunderbolt 4 support. That means you could connect an external GPU at your desk and turn a handheld into a more serious gaming setup.
Acer, MSI, and ONEXPLAYER are already preparing devices with these chips, including the Predator Atlas 8, Claw 8 EX, and ONEXPLAYER 3.
Our Conclusion
We think Arc G3 could make handheld gaming more competitive and, eventually, more affordable. More chip choices mean brands can experiment with better designs, stronger graphics, and smarter battery use. For you, that could mean more powerful portable PCs without waiting only on AMD based models.
