Intel Will Introduce New LGA-1954 Socket: Coolers Will Remain Compatible

Intel is again preparing a change of processor socket, but this time without the usual inconveniences for users. The new LGA-1954 socket, which will be the basis for Nova Lake-S processors, promises to maintain compatibility with existing cooling systems.
Sizes Remain the Same
According to leaked logistics documents, the dimensions of LGA-1954 will remain the same as LGA-1851 and LGA-1700 - 45×37.5mm. Due to this, existing coolers should fit the new platform as well, even if a motherboard replacement is required. Thus, system modernization can take place at a lower cost, especially taking into account the high cost of flagship solutions.
May Require New Mounts
While the socket geometry remains the same, the location of the thermal zones remains an important nuance. Intel's new processors are no longer monolithic, and crystal shifting can affect cooling efficiency. Manufacturers have already started to react: for example, Noctua introduced offset mounts for LGA-1851, which allow to reduce the processor's temperature by up to 3°C. There is a chance that similar accessories will be needed for LGA-1954 to maximize efficiency.
