Memory crisis will lead to the death of PCs and game consoles

The head of Amazon’s gaming division is convinced that the segment of gaming devices is going to disappear soon. The main reason is the memory shortage, which significantly affects PCs, game consoles, and smartphones. However, it is hard to imagine life without smartphones, making consoles less essential.  

Hardware price can tremendously impact the gaming market

During the interview, Jeff Gattis expressed predictions that with the increase in hardware price, more and more users will start questioning the real necessity of dedicated gaming devices. Only a small percentage of users actually have game consoles compared to the widespread use of smartphones.

From the perspective of cloud gaming, the necessity for dedicated gaming devices is gradually diminishing. Most of the top-rated games are already in the cloud, and anyone can have access with a minimal monthly subscription and stability guarantees. Gaming experience becomes more accessible, and cloud providers play a huge role in expanding the audience.

If looking at this situation from another viewpoint, some gamers who live in regions with slower internet connections will surely have issues with cloud gaming. That’s why the best option for such a category of clients will continue to be dedicated gaming devices.
