Microsoft has raised prices on its Surface products
11:56, 16.04.2026
The RAM shortage is gradually worsening and has now affected the Windows 11 ecosystem. Prices for all Surface PCs have increased by $100-$500. So don’t expect to find an affordable Surface anytime soon.
Price increases for the Surface series
The price increase took effect on Monday. For example, the 12-inch Surface Pro, which previously cost $800, now retails for $1,050. Prices for the 13-inch Surface Pro now start at $1,500.
This sharp price increase is directly linked to the cost of memory and will undoubtedly impact sales. Profitability has already fallen following the Xbox price hike, and this situation could worsen significantly due to the Surface price increase.
Predictions for the new generation of Surface
The specs of the currently available Surface devices are considered outdated. The 15-inch Surface Laptop with 16 GB of RAM is available for $1,750, while the Asus Zenbook A16 with 48 GB of RAM and significantly better performance can be bought for $1,700.
There is a possibility that Microsoft plans to release new Surface models this spring. However, these are just rumors for now, and there has been no confirmation from the company.
The memory shortage has driven up prices across the market, and analysts do not expect any improvements until the end of 2027. Therefore, the pricing policy for the Surface is unlikely to change anytime soon.
