NVIDIA is showing record performance in the discrete graphics processor segment. In the second quarter of this year, the company controlled almost 94% of the market. There are practically no competitors in the market, as AMD has only 6%, while Intel has not even reached 1%.
The situation on the discrete graphics card market
Analysts predicted NVIDIA's complete dominance of the market in advance. And the current situation fully confirms this trend. For example, in the second quarter of this year, shipments of discrete GPUs grew by almost 27% compared to the previous quarter.
According to JPR estimates, the decline in discrete GPUs on the market is expected to be -5.4% between 2024 and 2028. Despite this, the installation of discrete graphics cards could reach 163 million devices. It is planned that in the next 5 years, more than 87% of PCs will have discrete graphics. High demand for graphics cards will remain significant thanks to AI and gaming.
NVIDIA has good financial results, mostly due to the gaming segment of the market. In addition, analysts estimate that in the fourth quarter, the company's revenues will grow even more, as it is the holiday season.
No major products are planned from NVIDIA until the end of this year, as the RTX 50 and RDNA 4 series are already complete, and their updates will most likely take place next year.
