Samsung Electronics is already planning to serve as an AI chip contract manufacturer for Tesla. However, recently, it has become clear that the company is going further in terms of collaboration with OpenAI as well.
New details about the cooperation
OpenAI spokesman Harrison Kim revealed details about the future cooperation during a press conference in Seoul. The companies are already developing next-generation chips. In addition to this, Samsung is considered to be the largest user of ChatGPT, as AI models are utilized by its employees for development and research. Samsung has not shared any insight regarding this specific project yet.
Since last year, there have been documented agreements between both companies to supply memory chips for the Stargate megaproject for the construction of data centers. Also, the Korean OpenAI office is trying to prioritize collaboration with local memory suppliers as the demand for memory continues to grow.
Samsung engineers are using OpenAI, but also other AI models such as Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini. After an incident in which a Samsung engineer uploaded confidential information, Samsung put an internal ban in place on external AI models to meet specific security requirements.
