OpenAI recently announced that it is speeding up its project, specifically by launching five Stargate locations in the US.

Details about the new project

OpenAI's partners in the new project will be SoftBank and Oracle. Softbank and its SB Energy division are already building a data center in Lordstown, Ohio, and there are plans to commission a facility in Mayland County, Texas. Oracle, in turn, is building data centers in Shackelford County, Texas, and New Mexico, and is also preparing an expansion near its facility in Abilene.

The new locations are expected to provide 7 GW of power. And 10 GW no longer seems like an unrealistic goal, and it is possible to achieve such power figures by the end of this year.

Stargate is already operational in Abilene, and NVIDIA GB200 racks are being used for inference and training of new models. Such capabilities could provide a good foundation for the next generation of AI.
