The memory price spike turned out to be just the beginning. A new wave of price increases has swept through the components market. Previously, SSD memory was the main item in short supply, but now, power supply units and coolers have joined it. The cause of this shortage and price surge is the rapid rise in raw material costs.

Record Copper Prices

One of the most popular electronics manufacturers, Guangzhou Xinhong Zhengdian Electronic Technology, reported that production costs have risen significantly. The main reason is the increase in metal prices, particularly copper, which has reached a record $12,000 per ton.

Silver and tin are also becoming more expensive.

Price Forecast

Manufacturers have stopped accepting orders at old prices. Therefore, power supply units are expected to rise by 6–10%, and CPU coolers by 6–8%.

Additionally, starting February 1, 2026, companies plan to cancel all promotions and discounts. This could lead to prices rising for more than 90% of products in the segment.

Comprehensive Component Market Crisis

This news comes amid discouraging forecasts for memory.

Samsung and SK Hynix plan to raise DRAM prices by 70% in the near future. Therefore, regular consumers should prepare for 2026 to become the most expensive year for PC upgrades in the past few years.
