Possible cancellation of $100 billion deal between Nvidia and OpenAI

About two months ago, Nvidia and OpenAI announced a major $100 billion deal. Nvidia planned to invest in the deployment of 10 gigawatts of systems for OpenAI's infrastructure. The launch of the first gigawatt of systems was scheduled for the second half of 2026. After the publication of the 10-Q quarterly report, it became known that there are no specific guarantees for the future deal.
Agreements may not result in a signed contract
At this stage, there are only some agreements and plans between the companies. There is no actual confirmation of further action yet. However, AMD and OpenAI have already signed a contract to deploy 6 gigawatts of Instinct GPUs.
In addition, Nvidia has already announced its plans to invest in Anthropic and Intel, but these promises also have no guarantees.
Nvidia's quarterly report states that the agreement with OpenAI may take place on different terms or not at all. At this point, only one thing is clear: the high-profile announcements are just the beginning of possible negotiations.
