AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 8GB (non-XT) has joined the RDNA 4 family without fanfare. Much like the RX 9070 GRE, it targets the OEM market, appearing in prebuilt systems rather than retail shelves. Powered by a trimmed Navi 44 GPU, it features 28 compute units, 1792 shaders, 28 ray tracing cores, and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. Boost clocks hover just under 3 GHz, while power draw reaches about 135 W under load. On paper, it sits between Nvidia’s RTX 5050 and AMD’s own RX 9060 XT

Testing the RX 9060

South Korean YouTuber Technosaurus pulled the card from a prebuilt PC and tested it across nine modern games at 1080p max settings. The RX 9060 was just 2% slower than the RTX 5060 and only 6% behind the RX 9060 XT. Compared to the RTX 5050, the gap widened dramatically, with AMD’s card delivering roughly 25% more frames. In 3DMark Time Spy it scored 14,132 points, 38% higher than the 5050, while Fire Strike showed a 25% lead. Even demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and God of War showed performance nearly indistinguishable from the RTX 5060.

Pros and Cons: What You Need to Know

The RX 9060’s 8GB VRAM could limit future-proofing, especially with ray tracing enabled in upcoming games. The 16GB RX 9060 XT will hold up longer but costs more and consumes extra power. Still, for budget 1080p gaming, the RX 9060 offers outstanding efficiency and performance. If AMD ever releases it outside OEM builds, it could become the go-to choice for value seekers. For now, it remains a stealth contender, hiding inside prebuilt PCs and quietly outperforming expectations.
