Threadripper PRO 9995WX Sets New Benchmark for Workstation CPUs
15:58, 09.07.2025
AMD has officially raised the bar in workstation performance with its latest flagship processor — the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX. Priced at around $12,800 in the US and €12,300 in Europe. This CPU isn’t cheap, but it’s built for professionals who need extreme computing power.
Unveiled at Computex 2025, the 9995WX is based on the new Zen 5 architecture and manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process. The chip features an impressive 96 cores and 192 threads, with a base clock of 2.5 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz. It also boasts 384MB of L3 cache, supports up to 2TB of DDR5-6400 ECC memory across eight channels, and features 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes. The TDP is rated at 350W, and it’s compatible with sTR5 socket and WRX90 motherboards.
Geekbench Numbers: Raw Multicore Power
In recent Geekbench 6.4 results, the Threadripper PRO 9995WX scored 2,800 points in the single-core test and a staggering 30,170 in the multicore test. While single-core performance shows only a small bump compared to the previous generation, the multicore score reflects a 22% increase over the 7995WX.
This chip clearly targets professionals in AI development, simulation, and content creation — any workload that demands serious multi-threaded performance.
Not for the Average PC Builder
With its sky-high price and high-end platform requirements, this CPU isn’t for casual users. Building a system around it requires serious planning, and perhaps professional help is needed. Still, for those who require unmatched performance, the Threadripper PRO 9995WX remains at the pinnacle of the workstation market.
