Apple and NVIDIA May Give Intel Chips a New Lease on Life

Intel is revising its contract manufacturing strategy and focusing on specific orders from external customers. Apple and NVIDIA could be key players in this strategy, as they have the potential to change the fate of Intel's new 14A process technology.
Intel has already abandoned its plans for the 18A process for external customers, and now the 14A is also in question.
Apple May Change the Game
Amid global political instability and logistical risks, Apple is beginning to look for an alternative to its exclusive partnership with TSMC. Analyst Jeff Pooh reports that the company is exploring the possibility of producing M-series chips using Intel's new 14A process.
Intel has already distributed the first design kits (PDKs) to key partners, indicating preparations for test production.
New Opportunities
14A is expected to be a logical continuation of 18A, but with improvements: the introduction of the second generation of RibbonFET transistors and the new PowerDirect power system is expected. This will increase performance and energy efficiency, which is critical for chips designed for artificial intelligence and mobile devices.
According to Pooh, Intel’s 14A could become the basis for mass production not only of Apple chips, but also of lower-end graphics processors from NVIDIA.
