Critical Update: Nvidia Urgently Recalls Driver Due to RTX 5000 Overheating Risk
14:18, 27.02.2026
Nvidia was forced to halt the distribution of the latest Game Ready and Studio 595.59 WHQL driver package. The release remained available for only a few hours before developers removed it from all official resources due to critical bugs compromising hardware safety.
Reasons for the Driver Recall
1. Poor Cooling
The main reason for the recall was the incorrect operation of fan control algorithms. Owners of the new GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards found that the cooling system no longer engaged as temperatures rose.
2. Power Drop and System Instability
The update also brought a decrease in performance. Users of the flagship RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 reported a forced GPU voltage limit of 0.95V, leading to a drop in clock speeds.
Additionally, failures occurred such as "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD) errors, PC reboots even in idle mode, and visual glitches.
How to Fix the Errors?
In an official statement, Nvidia acknowledged the bugs and recommended that everyone who had already updated should perform an immediate rollback.
"We have temporarily removed the download for driver 595.59 WHQL while our team conducts an investigation. If you are experiencing issues with fan settings, please roll back to driver version 591.86 WHQL," the company stated.
Issues accompanied the release from the very beginning: the Nvidia App displayed an incorrect release date, and the changelog matched a version from April 2025. Currently, the company's engineers are working on bug fixes to release a stable software version.
