Chinese company YMTC has announced a new PC550 SSD model with a PCIe 5.0 interface and M.2 form factor. The company's new project is aimed at use in devices for working with AI. Versions with 2 TB, 1 TB, and 512 GB of storage will be available.
Key features of the PC550 drive
The new PC550 drive is based on the NVMe specification and uses YMTC X4-9070 3D NAND memory chips. The drive has a four-channel controller that can significantly reduce heat dissipation and power consumption. The company claims that power consumption in idle mode will be approximately 3 mW, and during active use, it will be 6 W.
The drive's sequential write speed reaches 10,000 MB/s, and its sequential read speed reaches 10,500 MB/s. Regarding the operating temperature range, it will be between 0°C and 70 °C.
Currently, the company has not announced how the new drive will be available for purchase. Most likely, they will be mainly targeted at system integrators and OEM manufacturers, but retail sales are also possible.
