Amazon has recently received approval for the construction of a huge data center beside the M25, despite all the obvious concerns about the negative impact on air quality. The new project is going to replace 17 warehouses and industrial units in Iver, Buckinghamshire.
The biggest issue that is now being discussed is the negative environmental impact. However, the officers still decided that the new data center will bring significant employment benefits and reduce vehicle movements.
Key insights into the new data center
The new data center will be located on an 18-acre site in a 20-meter-high building. Such territory also includes a generator yard, water tanks, security fencing, and a substation.
A legal agreement has secured £600,382 towards projects to deal with any possible air pollution. In addition to this, a monitoring plan is required for the emissions from generators, which should be using hydrotreated vegetable oil. Amazon also agreed to contribute almost £73,000 for the improvement of public right of way.
The project could support 60 full-time jobs together with jobs created during the construction process.
