Intel Launches USAI Campaign to Emphasize its “American Roots” Amid Political Pressure

Intel has unveiled a new communications strategy called USAI (short for USA + AI) to emphasize its commitment to manufacturing and innovation in the United States. The campaign comes amid political pressure following allegations that new CEO Lip-Bu Tan has ties to Chinese technology companies.
Political Context and Company Response
The scandal erupted after Senator Tom Cotton demanded that Intel explain Tan's past investments in more than 600 Chinese companies, some of which were linked to the Chinese military sector.
The situation escalated when US President Donald Trump called for Tan's resignation. A face-to-face meeting between Intel's CEO and Trump eased tensions, but the company decided to reinforce trust with the launch of USAI.
Focus on Cooperation with the Government and the Military
On its official website, Intel notes that the goal of USAI is to demonstrate its commitment to both the private sector and cooperation with the US government and the armed forces.
One example is a joint project with EdgeRunner AI to create autonomous AI solutions for the US military that can operate without an internet connection, analyze tactical situations, and coordinate unit actions in real time.
The Battle for Technological Superiority
The initiative comes amid growing competition from Taiwan's TSMC, which dominates the production of advanced chips (particularly 3 nm). Intel is seeking to regain its strategic weight in the industry and establish itself as a key supplier to the US defense and civilian sectors.
