MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and 7450X: Same Muscle, Sharper Instincts
11:32, 29.04.2026
MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 7450 and Dimensity 7450X, but you should not expect a dramatic power leap. These chips follow the Dimensity 7400 and 7400X with a very careful upgrade strategy.
The CPU stays the same. You get four Cortex A78 cores running at up to 2.6 GHz and four Cortex A55 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz. The GPU also remains familiar, with Mali G615 MC2 handling graphics. In daily use, this means the basic speed should feel close to last year’s models.
The real difference sits in how these chips fit into future devices. The Dimensity 7450X supports dual displays, which makes it more suitable for affordable foldable phones. The regular Dimensity 7450 focuses on standard smartphones.
AI Photos and Better 5G Take the Spotlight
MediaTek wants you to notice smarter AI performance instead of raw benchmark gains. The company claims around 7 percent better AI performance, especially in photo processing. That could help with cleaner images, faster scene detection, and better camera tricks in budget and mid range phones.
Connectivity also gets a meaningful boost. The new 5G R17 modem replaces the older R16 version. It supports three carrier aggregation, uses power more efficiently, and can deliver up to 20 percent better performance while you are moving. It should also reconnect faster after signal drops in weak coverage areas.
Our Expert Take and What It Means for You
This update matters because cheaper phones may soon feel more polished, even without faster CPU cores. You may get better photos, stronger mobile data, and more practical foldable designs at lower prices.
