In April, Microsoft posted the MS-DOS 4.0 code on GitHub. This version is the first MS-DOS release posted on GitHub, but this particular release was posted with some critical bugs, namely UTF-8 encoding and timestamps. According to words Michal Nekasek, a developer and blogger of OS/2 Museum, these features are critical and literally spoil the whole release.

The issue with UTF-8 is particularly cumbersome, as it makes text in this coding undecipherable.

There are errors in numerous files, however the main system files have been transported flawlessly, according to the OS/2 Museum publication.

The release of the article was followed by an argument between Michal and Starfrost, the developer of MS-DOS 4.

The issues are promised to be solved soon.
