Nvidia Considers Acquiring AI Model Developer, Reflection AI

Nvidia is in talks with American startup Reflection AI regarding an increase in investment or a potential acquisition of the company, according to the Financial Times.
Nvidia's interest is driven by the growing popularity of open-weights models, which allow enterprises to run AI on their own infrastructure, reduce costs, and better protect confidential data.
The Beam Model and Nvidia's Strategy
Reflection AI recently introduced its open-weights model, Beam. According to the developer, Beam matches the performance of China's GLM-5.2 in complex reasoning benchmarks while consuming three to four times fewer compute resources.
For Nvidia, strengthening its position in this segment represents not only an expansion of its AI technology portfolio, but also a potential surge in demand for its own accelerators.
Investments and Potential Deal Terms
Nvidia has already invested $800 million in Reflection AI and is among the startup's largest shareholders. In March, the company's valuation reached $25 billion.
Beyond a full acquisition, the parties are considering increasing investment, licensing technologies, or hiring key talent. These options could mitigate regulatory risks, though they do not eliminate legal complexities.
According to the Financial Times, a potential deal could take place in the coming weeks.
