NVIDIA Rejects Intel 18A Process After Testing
13:56, 29.12.2025
According to Reuters, NVIDIA has already tested the 18A process but decided not to use it for mass production of its chips. In this situation, the typical practice of comparing capabilities between partner companies (here — Intel and TSMC) likely played a role, and in this comparison, Intel turned out to be weaker.
Intel Priorities: Working on Improvements and the 14A Process
The 18A technology is still aimed at Intel’s internal products at this stage. The company places greater hopes on future integrations of 18A-P and 18A-PT, as well as the new 14A process, which is expected to launch in 2027. According to feedback, development of 14A is proceeding successfully.
Collaboration Continues
Despite rejecting the 18A process, NVIDIA and Intel maintain their partnership. Starting in 2026, integration of NVIDIA RTX graphics into Intel system-on-chip solutions is planned.
At this stage, the collaboration only concerns finished products, not the production of NVIDIA chips at Intel factories.
