Nvidia has introduced its latest developer kit, the Jetson AGX Thor, priced at $3499. The system is powered by the new Jetson T5000 module and is designed to serve as the core computing unit for advanced robots. Engineers can use the kit to build and test humanoid prototypes, and once ready for large-scale production, the Thor T5000 modules can be purchased individually. With orders of more than one thousand units, the price drops to $2999 each.
The Jetson Thor is built on Nvidia’s Blackwell GPU architecture and comes with 128 GB of memory. According to the company, it delivers 7.5 times the performance of the previous generation. This power makes it possible to run cutting-edge AI models, including large language models and computer vision systems that help machines understand their surroundings. The first shipments are expected to reach developers in September.
From AI to Real-World Machines
Nvidia’s leadership views robotics as one of the company’s most promising growth areas alongside artificial intelligence. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that while Nvidia does not build robots or cars, it provides the computing backbone for industries that do. Deepu Talla, vice president of robotics and edge AI, echoed this vision, highlighting how Nvidia’s hardware and software enable the next generation of automation.
The Jetson Thor is not limited to humanoid robots. Nvidia also sees opportunities in autonomous vehicles, especially among Chinese manufacturers. This move follows the company’s release of Granary, a large open dataset designed to support AI training in European languages.
With Jetson AGX Thor, Nvidia is positioning itself as the key technology supplier for the machines of the future.
