Google plans to launch a beta feature that will allow users to listen to real-time translations in their headphones. Additionally, Google Translate will feature language learning tools and enhanced Gemini capabilities.
More about the new options in Google Translate
The new translation feature in headphones will maintain the same speech rhythm and intonation, making it much easier to follow the conversation. At this stage, the beta version is already being rolled out in the Translate app on Android in India, the US, and Mexico. The new feature supports 70+ languages and works with any headphones.
By clicking on the “Live translate” feature, users can listen to a movie, podcast, or lecture in any of the available languages. Translation is done in real time, and all you need to do is put on your headphones.
In 2026, this translation feature will be available for iOS and in other countries. With Gemini's advanced capabilities, users will have access to more accurate and natural translations, as well as improvements in the translation of idioms, slang, and other local expressions.
In addition to Live Translate, language learning tools are also being expanded. Feedback for providing advice on oral language practice has been improved, and an option to track the number of days of learning to monitor progress has been added.
