Western Digital Splits Its Websites to Promote SanDisk and WD

Western Digital has made significant changes to its online sales structure by giving the SanDisk brand its dedicated website. Now, SanDisk.com is solely focused on NAND flash memory solutions, such as SSDs, memory cards, USB drives, and other products. Meanwhile, the WD.com site is now focused exclusively on corporate solutions, including hard drives, NAS, and products for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB).
This separation is aimed at clearer brand positioning and product portfolio management. SanDisk will now promote both consumer and enterprise solutions based on flash memory, while Western Digital will continue to offer both client and SMB products, including the gaming brand WD_Black. This allows the company to more effectively serve two distinct business segments and improve access to information and customer support for both product categories.
There are also changes in customer support. Customers purchasing SanDisk-branded products will now be supported through the new SanDisk.com website, while WD.com will continue to support hard drive and platform-related solutions. To make the transition as smooth as possible, the company has created accounts on the new SanDisk website for all existing WD customers, using their current email addresses. Upon the first login, users will be prompted to reset theirpassword.
These changes are part of Western Digital's broader strategy to split its hard drive and flash memory production into two independent companies. According to the company, this move will allow for better utilization of innovative technologies and a faster response to market changes.
