In the world of video cards, Nvidia, AMD, and Intel usually hold the lead. But China is preparing a serious response. Startup Lisuan Technology has announced the launch of its first proprietary G100 GPU built on TrueGPU architecture. It's China's first GPU made on the 6nm process, a development that could mark a new milestone in the country's quest for technological independence.

Who is Lisuan Technology?

Lisuan Technology is a Chinese startup founded in 2021 by experienced engineers from Silicon Valley. It has emerged as one of the new players in the domestic GPU market along with Moore Threads and Biren. All of them emerged against the backdrop of China's limited access to modern Western technology.

Importantly, Lisuan builds its GPUs from scratch, not using licensed architectures. This is a principled approach that demonstrates the company's serious technological ambitions.

G100: Architecture, Process, and Performance

G100 is a GPU developed on TrueGPU's proprietary architecture. It is manufactured using a 6nm process, which is the first such case in China. Although the manufacturer of the chip has not been officially named, experts speculate that it is SMIC, a Chinese fab that also produces chips for Huawei.

According to rumors, the G100 can deliver performance on par with the GeForce RTX 4060. If confirmed, Lisuan will have the first true gaming GPU capable of competing with Nvidia's previous generations.

Support for all key APIs, DirectX 12, Vulkan 1.3, and OpenGL 4.6, is expected, making it suitable not only for professional tasks but also for gaming.

When to Expect a Graphics Card with G100?

G100 is in the test production phase. Lisuan plans to release a limited batch of cards in Q3 2025, but the mass launch is not expected until 2026.

To claim competitors Nvidia or AMD at once is unrealistic. But even stable performance on the level of RTX 4060 will be an important step for the Chinese GPU market.
