Cloudflare announced that it had repelled a powerful DDoS attack. The attack reached a peak of 22.2 Tbps, with 10.6 billion packets per second.
The incident is considered the largest ever recorded, lasting 40 seconds and successfully eliminated by the company. The attack was relatively short, but its power was significant and can be compared to the simultaneous streaming of a million 4K video files.
Major DDoS attacks
Since the beginning of this year, the company has been attacked more than once. In January, a DDoS attack at 5.6 Tbps was successfully repelled by the company. The next incident was in June, and the peak of the attack was recorded at 7.3 Tbps. In early September, an attack of 11.5 Tbps was also recorded.
Cloudflare did not comment on the latest events, but XLab suggested that the 11.5 Tbps attack was carried out using the AISURU botnet. Researchers reported that AISURU infected a significant number of devices worldwide. The peak number of infections occurred in April of this year.
