Due to Iranian attacks in the Persian Gulf, a fire broke out at the Amazon Web Services data center. The AWS status page describes the situation as follows: the data center was affected by objects during the strike.
Details: After the incident
Firefighters shut down the generators and power supply. Initially, the mec1-az2 zone was affected, and subsequently, the situation spread to the mec1-az3 zone in the UAE. As a result, a local power supply problem affected neighboring Bahrain.
Overall, approximately 60 services were affected by Iran's attack, including Lambda, EC2, Redshift, and EKS. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank announced that its platforms and mobile app were unavailable.
The fire incident occurred when Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE. If the connection to the attack is confirmed, this will be the first case of a strike on a major technology company's data center.
Microsoft, Oracle, and Google have made significant investments in the UAE to build data centers in the region. At this stage, none of the companies has commented on their plans.
