MSI Introduces the Unique RTX 5080 EXPERT with Dual-Sided Cooling and an Updated Design

MSI is preparing to launch a new series of EXPERT graphics cards based on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics processor. The key feature of these models will be a dual-sided push-pull cooling system inspired by NVIDIA's Founders Edition design. One fan is located above the GPU chip, and the second is on the back of the card, above the backplate and radiator, ensuring efficient heat dissipation even under heavy load.
Specifications and Overclocking
The new RTX 5080 EXPERT from MSI will be available in two versions: standard and overclocked. Both versions use the RTX 5080 chip with 10,752 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR7 memory running on a 256-bit bus. The base version runs at 2617 MHz in Boost mode, while the overclocked version reaches 2715 MHz. For enthusiasts, additional manual overclocking is available through the MSI Center utility.
Updated Design and Improved Cooling System
MSI has redesigned the visual style of the EXPERT cards, emphasizing golden decorative elements and changing the design of the cover. The new fans now have 7 blades (instead of 9 previously), and cooling is enhanced by an enlarged vapor chamber and square heat pipes connected to a massive aluminum heatsink.
Compared to the previous RTX 4080 SUPER EXPERT, the new card is 7 mm longer (319 mm) and slightly thinner (60 mm thick). However, the weight remains impressive at around 1.9 kg, making it one of the heaviest graphics cards in its category.
Price and Availability
The standard version of the RTX 5080 EXPERT is priced at $1,399.99 in MSI's official online store in the US. The overclocked version will likely cost a little more. In the future, MSI will probably expand the EXPERT line to include other graphics chips.
