Ryzen AI 5 330: AMD’s Budget-Friendly Entry into the AI Laptop Space
13:27, 17.07.2025
AMD has quietly launched a new processor on its official website — the Ryzen AI 5 330. It’s the most basic model in the new Krackan Point lineup, designed for affordable and compact laptops. Despite its budget-friendly positioning, the chip includes AI features typically reserved for higher-end models.
The CPU has a 4-core hybrid layout, with one high-performance Zen 5 core and three energy-efficient Zen 5c cores. All cores support SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading). The Zen 5 core can boost up to 4.5 GHz, while the Zen 5c cores go up to 3.4 GHz. The base frequency for all cores is 2 GHz. The chip includes 4MB of L2 cache and 8MB of L3 cache. Its TDP ranges from 15W to 28W (defaulting to 28W).
Simplified Graphics, Full AI Power
Graphics are handled by the Radeon 820M iGPU with only 2 compute units based on RDNA 3.5. It runs at up to 2.8 GHz. While the graphics are minimal, the Ryzen AI 5 330 still features a full NPU (Neural Processing Unit) capable of 50 TOPS — the same as its higher-tier siblings.
A Successor to Mendocino
Compared to the Ryzen AI 5 340, which has a 6-core layout (3+3), more cache, and a Radeon 840M GPU with twice the power, the 330 is clearly more modest. However, it is expected to replace the aging Mendocino chips (based on Zen 2 and RDNA 2) found in many budget laptops today. With its efficient design and AI acceleration, the Ryzen AI 5 330 could become a go-to choice for entry-level AI-capable notebooks.
