Huge Intel’s investments of over 5 billion euros will be used for the expansion of its manufacturing in Leixlip, Ireland. This factory already has a significant number of EUV lithography systems for the manufacturing of products based on Intel 3 technology.
Insights into Intel's Plans
The Fab 34 plant in Leixlip has been functioning for many years already, and it can use the most advanced manufacturing process for the mass production of microchips. This is the only plant in Europe that uses EUV lithography technology.
Intel is planning to invest 5 billion euros in the plant and, in 2027, purchase additional equipment and necessary machinery for the increase in output. Also, there are some plans regarding internal logistics improvements. All the mentioned steps are mainly oriented towards increasing the production volumes using the Intel 3 process.
Intel 3 process is planned to be used for the manufacture of base and I/O chips, mainly for the data centers. The company has confirmed that next-gen Xeon server processors will also use Intel 3. Similar architecture will also be utilized in the Diamond Rapids series.
